Company Profile
About us
Experience gained over 40 years of producing sterile disposables has been combined with state-of-the-art technology to provide high capacity, reliable and automated flexible assembly lines.
At Pennine we do not regard manufacturing technology as a commodity that can simply be bought in as required. Here we believe that the manufacturing technical expertise is a core skill within the framework of the company and are proud of our team of highly skilled engineers and technicians dedicated to the development of our own high performance and sophisticated custom-built manufacturing systems. Experience gained in over 40 years of producing sterile disposables has been combined with state-of-the-art technology to provide high capacity, reliable and fully automated flexible assembly lines. Each stage of the manufacturing system is subject to continual development to ensure that we are always producing the highest standard of product in the most efficient manner.
Modern computerised control systems give operators fingertip control over the equipment, reducing set up times and allowing efficient production of smaller batches coupled with reduced lead times. The flexibility often allows us to offer customisation of products to meet specific customer requirements. A network of 3D CAD workstations is linked to our high technology machining centre to achieve fast and cost effective machine building. Keeping all process development in-house enables us to set stringent quality standards required to meet our ‘right first time approach’.
A basic Pennine philosophy is that training is the key to effective innovation. Over the past ten years close links have been forged with the University of Derby that have been used to develop our manufacturing computer systems. A customised solution was installed that immediately showed improvements in the manufacturing process through reduced stock levels, reduced lead times and improved workflow. The links with the University ensure that we always have access to the latest technology relevant to a manufacturing organisation.
Health & Safety
It is the Company’s policy to promote good standards of safety, health and welfare for all employees, customers and visitors in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all other relevant statutory provisions and codes of practice.
This is accomplished by engendering a “safety culture” that emanates from senior management and is implemented through all levels of the company on a daily basis, ensuring that areas of risk are identified and adequately managed, thus protecting the company and employees.
Clear objectives are set through the effective implementation and constant review of a 3 Year Health and Safety Strategic Plan that promotes continuous improvement at all levels, taking into account the four C’s:
Competence
Control
Co-operation
Communication
All employees receive ongoing training in health and safety, from initial induction and throughout their career at Pennine Healthcare/Ivor Shaw, to enable them to understand and undertake their duties safely, with adequate resources being made available for training and development.
Health and Safety is constantly delivered and monitored through consultation with Safety Representatives at monthly Safety Committee Meetings, Staff Council Meetings, Operations Meetings and Board Meetings.
