HOSPITAL ACCESS CONTROL AND INTRUDER ALARM SYSTEMS
Hospitals present a demanding system environment in terms of controlling access and security. They contain valuable facilities and equipment, and deal with volatile situations involving the safety and lives of people.

Cardax FT is a stable, electronic access control and intruder alarm system ideally suited to the hospital environment. It is highly flexible. Access and security for each area of the hospital – from the emergency department and operating theatres, through the pharmacy and wards, to the elevator system and car parks – can be configured to meet specific requirements.

In a hospital it is critical for the system to operate continuously 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Cardax FT system architecture includes reliable, intelligent field controllers that make access control and alarm decisions in the field independent of the server management system. Critically, if the server becomes unavailable, the access control and security functions continue on site.

SCALABLE, SITE-SPECIFIC SECURITY SYSTEMS
Hospitals typically need systems that are scalable in order to accommodate increasing security requirements and site expansion. In the case of site expansion, additional Cardax FT intelligent field controllers can be added onto the hospital’s existing TCP / IP network. A separate network is not required. Interfaces to third-party DVR / CCTV imaging systems enable events in the Cardax FT system to be linked to images, providing a more complete record of events and evidence.

Cardax FT integrates photo ID – each cardholder’s image is held in the system and can be printed on access control cards. For areas demanding high levels of security, such as pharmacies for example, the Cardholder Challenge feature can be implemented so that when a person presents their card at the pharmacy’s reader, a security operator can compare the photo held in the system against the live image of the person from a camera.

AUTOMATIC DATABASE UPDATING
Cardax FT can also be integrated via an XML interface to share cardholder information so that when a change occurs in, for example, the human resources system, the information, including access privileges, can be dynamically updated in Cardax FT. Not only does this mean significant savings (time and money) on database management, sharing cardholder data facilitates a single source of cardholder data entry and maintenance, and reduced data errors.

Cardax FT online manager, the web interface to Cardax FT, enables alarms in the Cardax FT system to be sent through to mobile security guards via their PDAs and / or cellphones. It also helps to distribute cardholder management including their access to authorised line managers, enabling security personnel to focus on other security functions.

Software maintenance agreements enable hospitals to keep pace with technology developments including Microsoft® operating platforms.

POWERFENCE™ PERIMETER SECURITY SYSTEMS
For high security areas where it is important to restrict access at the perimeter, such as hospital research facilities, PowerFence™ electric fence security systems actively deter would-be intruders and detect attackers.

PowerFence™ systems are safe, meeting international safety standards. Warning signs are positioned along the fence, providing warning of the hazard of an electric shock if the fence is touched or attacked.

There is a range of PowerFence™ system options – from roof-top and wall-top applications to full-height fences. The advanced PowerFence™ Trophy FT system integrates perimeter security with the Cardax FT system providing the benefits of having just one management system to maintain and one system architecture to manage.
