Ahlstrom Sterile Barrier Systems (SBS) are at the forefront of patient safety and the upholding of international guidelines and universal precautions. Our fabrics are designed to protect a wide variety of medical devices.

Ahlstrom advanced sterile barrier systems are designed to accommodate a wide variety of medical devices ranging in size and weight. Our products maintain optimal integrity during all phases of gamma radiation, steam sterilization – pre-vacuum, air removal, steam penetration holding time and drying cycle – and are fully permeable to Ethylene Oxide (EtO), without impeding aeration.

NONWOVEN STERILE BARRIER SYSTEMS
Ahlstrom’s advanced fabrics have been created through the experience and expertise of our team, continuous research and development, and the utilization of new technologies. Our range of fabrics comprises the most economic crepe paper to the most stringent wetlaid nonwovens and spunmelt composites (SSMMS) products.

Uniformity is a key advantage, enabling immediate detection of pinholes. Controlled nonwoven construction provides unsurpassed fabric uniformity. This, together with interleaved products, enables immediate detection of pinholes or damage that put package integrity and the sterility of contents at risk. Ahlstrom sterile barrier systems also resist damage from scuffing and rubbing, thereby providing the lowest lint generation in their class.

SINGLE-USE AND MEMORY-FREE STERILISATION WRAPS
Ahlstrom sterile barrier systems are classified as a single-use wrapping material and are proven to be cost-effective. The case against re-use is centered on patient safety, as medical packaging could be used in potential contamination situations and should be treated accordingly.

Ahlstrom’s sterilization wraps are memory-free for a reduced risk of contamination. When packages wrapped in Ahlstrom nonwoven fabrics are opened they stay open, without closing back along crease lines. This allows pack contents to be removed more safely and with reduced risk of contamination.
